“Less is more” is the maxim of FilmOneFest, the international film festival which challenges filmmakers of every genre to tell their stories in under two minutes.
Each year, FilmOneFest’s corps of dedicated volunteers select the most innovative, diverse and entertaining short-format films from around the world and project them onto a screen under the stars. This year’s outdoor screening is scheduled for July 20, 2019 at the Atlantic Highlands Marina, with majestic views of New York City as a backdrop.
As a sponsored program of the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, FilmOneFest provides filmmakers with the rare opportunity to participate in a free community celebration complete with art, music, crafts, food and other all-day events. As a bonus, filmmakers have an opportunity to meet their peers and establish industry connections.
“We encourage, support and reward the art of the short filmmaker in a number of ways,” said David Salowe, Submissions Director.
Prize categories include: Jury & Judge, Audience Choice, Young Filmmaker, Best Animation, Guest Judge, and the Gartenburg Memorial Award which recognizes Excellence in Filmmaking.
FilmOneFest is supported by Sony Pictures Classics, and is funded in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council through grants from the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, The County Historical Commission, and the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts. FilmOneFest/Atlantic Highlands Arts Council supports the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry through food drives and donations.
