Norman, from Academy Award-nominated director and writer Joseph Cedar (Footnote) is a comic and compassionate drama that follows the tale of ho-hum, middle-aged New York City schemer, dreamer, and hustler Norman Oppenheimer (played by Richard Gere), whose life changes dramatically after a chance meeting with a high-powered politician. Using his new connection, the opportunistic Oppenheimer spins a complex web of a scheme that threatens to unravel and cause an international incident.
Gere leads an impressive cast, including Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, Passengers), Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Pulp Fiction, HBO’s The Sopranos), Dan Stevens (the Beast in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, TV’s Downton Abbey), and Hank Azaria (The Birdcage, Night at the Museum, Fox TV’s The Simpsons).
Todd McCarthy from The Hollywood Reporter said, “Made with skill and style…impressively creates a complex and intricately detailed portrait of the web of political, financial, social, and religious affiliations that has everything to do with how the world works.” Pete Hammond of Deadline Hollywood said, “Gere has the role of his career. He’s funny, complicated, touching, and unforgettable…A richly entertaining movie.”
